Implants are artificial roots, and have been carefully researched and further advanced for several decades. The implant virtually replaces the missing tooth and imitates the root in the bone. In most cases, they consist of titanium with a special surface coating to facilitate better healing of the bone. Ideally, an all-ceramic crown is put on the implant so that the new tooth (“substitute”) can hardly be distinguished from a natural tooth – even by specialist and experts.
A comprehensive diagnosis is the beginning of any implant solution: Digital x-rays as well as CT or digital volume tomography (DVT) allow us to obtain a three-dimensional computer image of the jaw.
Selection of the implant primarily depends on the bone material of the jaw (different lengths and widths). Further prosthetic planning is important as well, in order to prepare the exact position of the crown or prosthesis. The 3D diagnosis can be utilised to create a surgical template to ensure extremely accurate positioning of the implants.
In addition to their prosthetic functions (biomimetic relevance, durability), implants are an excellent aesthetic treatment: All-ceramic (colouring, translucence) is the perfect connection between implant and crown. Furthermore, implants prevent bone loss and bone atrophy, especially in jaw areas where the natural root no longer exists. On the whole, they are therefore considered to be the ideal option for restoring the patient’s natural, individual
